The monocled cobra (Naja kaouthia) is a highly venomous snake species native to South Asia and Southeast Asia. These dangerous and potentially deadly snakes can be found in China, India, Vietnam, Nepal, and Cambodia, but also Malaysia, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Laos, Myanmar, and Thailand.The species is also commonly referred to as the Monocellate cobra or Thai cobra and belongs to the family Elapidae.
The monocled cobra gets it common name from the O-shaped, or monocellate hood pattern present on the rear of its hood. It's distinct to that of the Indian cobra or spectacled cobra which has a "spectacle" pattern, formed by the two circular ocelli connected by a curved line.
Monocled cobras are medium-sized and heavy-bodied snakes with elongated cervical ribs that expand to form the typical hood when they feel threatened. Usually, these cobras prefer to flee, but if threatened they will raise their body, spread their hood and hiss loudly, and will eventually strike and bite to defend themselves.
Their highly toxic venom is considered one of the fastest acting snake venoms in the world and can cause death in just an hour after envenomation. Contrary to the Indian Cobra (N. naja) monocled cobras can deliver a bite in the very first attack making it even more dangerous.
Their bite causes localized swelling at the bite area but also the progressive paralysis of the nervous system which may lead respiratory paralysis and death due to asphyxia. The monocled cobra bite may also lead to tissue necrosis requiring surgical intervention.
They have a pair of fixed anterior fangs, that may reach more than 6mm, and are somewhat adapted for spitting.

Well, each such action is difficult, but especially the night ones have their own drama. And that's how I saw it also in this case. A tiny, defenseless child and a giant cobra. It could have ended tragically, but luckily these people called for you, my friend.👍 But that cobra was huge. On the one hand, it made me afraid, and on the other hand, I admired its size and the sense of the power of the snake itself. And my next observation - this is the cobra in the cameraman's shots (big applause and respect, man👍👏), it reminded me of a beauty show. 🙂 The snake seemed to pose for these shots. Great material for tiktok.😁 Especially in combination with this beautiful young woman in a green sari, giving obeisance.👍 Well, a scene out of a fairy tale - beauty and the beast.🙂 I liked these people because they watched your action in peace and concentration and listened to your words.👍 Thanks to you, people could go to sleep in peace, and for the great cobra, you will surely find a good place.👍💪 Thanks, Mirza.🙏🤝👏🙂💓

Monocled snake wanted to flee, but the rescuer was persistent in catching and rescuing it.
I notice that Mirza never pins the cobras head with his hook and grabs his neck close to his head and he does do that with a krait or a viper.
Gods in so many colours and shaded. An amazing civilisation!!!

A snake bit a child on the mat n died in my country. I love animals. Us they can't help if they have poison in them but they should b killed in but try with the least pain n suffering as they can bite many n to suffer n die. Better snakes die.
Good natured and intelligent snake. Didn't attack or bite the baby.

I would move my children off the floor. Build raised beds.off floor. Make it harder for that snake to curl up with my child. In usa we use moth balls. Snakes don't like them and stays away from the area you put moth balls in.
